Opened in 2019 on a six-hectare site beside Linderhoek Park, The Sandboxtel was designed by Atelier Vos & Kellerman as a modern reply to the grand hotels of old Aurelia — broad colonnades, tall windows, and a lobby that opens directly onto the park's western lawns.

Three hundred and twelve rooms and suites are spread across a twelve-storey bronze-and-cream block, wrapped around an internal garden courtyard. Four dining rooms, a full-floor spa and the 1,400-seat Aurelia Ballroom sit on the lower levels, connected by the hotel's signature three-storey oak staircase.
